It is one thing to know in your heart that your process is pure; it is entirely another to prove it to the world's strictest textile auditors. When we invited GOTS, EDS, and ZDHC into our facilities, we were not just asking them to check a box. We were asking them to validate an entirely different way of making baby clothes one that relies on roots, leaves, and clean water rather than synthetic chemistry. Here is a behind-the-scenes look at what it actually took to earn our seals.
1. GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard): The Soil-to-Skin Audit
GOTS is the gold standard for organic textiles, but achieving it means mapping every single touchpoint of our cotton's life, from the seed to the final stitch.
The Challenge
We had to prove that our cotton was not just grown without synthetic pesticides, but that it was ginned, spun, and woven without ever coming into contact with conventional, chemically treated cotton on the factory floor.
Our Reality
This required dedicating exclusive machinery and storage for our materials. We traced our organic cotton back to the very soil it sprouted from, providing documentation that the farmers were treated ethically and the earth was regenerated, not depleted.
2. EDS (Eco Dye Standard): Creating Certified Organic Baby Clothes with Plant-Based Dyes

The Eco Dye Standard (EDS) certifies that our plant-based dyeing process meets internationally recognised standards for safety, colour performance, and environmentally responsible textile production.
Standardizing natural dyes is incredibly difficult. Unlike synthetic dyes, which behave the same way in a laboratory every time, plant-based dyes like indigo, turmeric, and madder root are living colors. They shift depending on the season, the soil, and the harvest.
The Challenge
We had to meet strict international standards for colorfastness, skin pH balance, and absolute zero toxicity all while using wild, natural botanicals.
Our Reality
We spent months refining our ancient dyeing recipes with modern botanical science. The auditors scrutinized our natural plant-based mordants and dye baths. When the lab results came back confirming that our colors were both resilient for the laundry and profoundly safe for a newborn's porous skin, it was a monumental victory for natural textiles.
3. ZDHC (Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals): Water as Clear as We Found It
The traditional textile industry is notorious for polluting waterways with heavy metals and toxic run-off. ZDHC certification is about ensuring that the water leaving a facility is completely safe for the local ecosystem.
The Challenge
Proving a negative that there are absolutely zero hazardous chemicals hiding anywhere in our supply chain or our plumbing.
Our Reality
This was our proudest audit. Because our dye baths are made of pure plants, our "wastewater" is essentially a rich botanical tea. We demonstrated to the auditors that our runoff does not require heavy chemical treatment to neutralize toxins; it is completely biodegradable and leaves no hazardous footprint behind.
Mother Nature's Wisdom
The earth does not rush its processes. A madder root takes years to mature before it yields its deep reds; an organic cotton plant requires time, pure soil, and natural rain. Our certification journey demanded that same patience. We did not cut corners, because nature never does.
